National Association of Funeral Directors

Funeral Services

When someone dies, whether expected or not, the distress and emotional upset leaves the bereaved completely disorientated and unsure of what to do next.

The thought of arranging a funeral is not a pleasant one, especially in the case of parents, husband, wife or child.

As Funeral Directors we are here to help and advise in whatever way we can. We are dedicated professionals trained to understand and cope with your situation and available with our personal services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

It is not our policy to impose urgency or apply undue pressure on you or your family. It is important for many people to reflect the personality and character of the deceased within the arrangements and this often requires time and thought to do so.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Our services to you start when you contact us, whether by telephone, this website or calling personally, and often extends way beyond the day of the funeral.

On initial contact we will ask for preliminary details, whereupon if the deceased has died at home or in a private nursing home we will advise as to the removal of the deceased to our Chapel of Rest.

We would then ask, at a time and place to suit the family, for the funeral director to call and arrange the funeral to a standard and procedure that meets the needs and requirements of those concerned.

In all aspects of the arrangements our Funeral Director will point out the procedures and legal requirements. Do not hesitate to ask if any of the arrangements or costs are not clear. In difficult times such as these even the most simple instructions can confuse you.

Professional service and personal attention to you and your family is what we stand for.

Often relatives and friends wish to visit our Chapel of Rest to pay their last respects before the day of the funeral. In this event we believe that in entrusting us with the care of your loved one you do so in the knowledge that we seek to provide you with lasting memories of a peaceful countenance.

The hearse and bearers are an essential part of our service to you. Any necessary limousines (seating 6 people each) will be supplied depending on the needs of the family.

DISBURSEMENTS
These are fees that we pay out on behalf of the family.

DONATIONS TO CHARITY
If donations to charity are requested in lieu of flowers we will accept and list donations on your behalf and forward them in due coarse to the charity of your choice.

CREMATED REMAINS
At the time of making the arrangements it is not always easy to look forward and realise the emotional benefit that can be gained by having some where to go back to after the funeral has long passed, knowing that a loved one is there.

Our Funeral Director will discuss the options available to you for scattering or burying cremated remains.

MEMORIALS
If it is necessary to remove an existing headstone to allow arrangements to go ahead, our NAMM registered monumental masons will dismantle it.

When a burial has taken place, especially in Churchyards it sometimes takes a couple of months for the ground to settle before a headstone can be erected. This will give you sufficient time to think of a suitable additional inscription or where necessary choose a new headstone to suit your requirements.
